Getting Even with Mom
One day I went into my closet to get something out and noticed that a pair of my shoes were filled to the brim with water. I suddenly grossed out thinking that Layton, who sometimes walks in his sleep, had mistaken my closet for the bathroom in the middle of the night. With further inspection I noticed that the shoes were the only thing that had been filled besides a trickle going to the door of my closet. I knew first that Layton was NOT that good of a shot when he was awake let alone asleep and second, that there was no way he could possibly fill two shoes to the brim. Then it hit me. Mason (around age five) and Jaden (around age three) had just gotten in trouble earlier and I had sent them to their room. When I questioned them, Mason admitted that they had filled my shoes with water from my bathroom because I had sent them to their room. I asked who's idea it was and he said that it was his but, "Jaden filled one of the shoes". I couldn't help but laugh until it was impossible to be mad. It became even funnier when I went to climb in bed that night and found that my side of the bed was wet....apparently they thought to dump water there as well and remake my bed so I wouldn't know until bedtime. To think that at five he was smart enough to think of a way to "get back" at mom.
